Two Women, One Voice

It was in a dark, cold laboratory where the idea of this blog was born. Alright this is not exactly a rerun of Einstein, so we will scratch that imaginary scene. This blog was really born from our own bright hearts. We’ve visited many youth websites and felt there was a lack of perspective from Muslims, Muslim youth and Muslim women (more on that in Shahrzad’s next post). We would talk about this lack, but it was today when we felt we should really do something about it.

That is why an Eastern Muslimah and a Western Muslimah have brought you Empowered Muslim Youth. We are a moderate voice, filling a gap on the Internet that needs to be filled, highlighting issues that are important to us and Muslim youth around the world, analysing their portrayal in popular culture and reporting our own stories.

We want to empower ourselves by being active participants of society. Forget about passiveness from now. Let’s get this show on the road!
